Roberto Portillo Togno – Of Counsel
Roberto Portillo Togno focuses his practice on intellectual property, commercial
transactions, art law, litigation, and regulated business matters. He advises clients on
trademark and copyright strategy, licensing, brand protection, contract negotiation, due
diligence, risk management, and disputes.
He manages the firm’s trademark docket, including clearance, filing strategy, U.S. and
international prosecution, Office Action responses, maintenance filings, and
enforcement. He also counsels clients on copyright registration, licensing, enforcement,
and litigation, representing artists, photographers, authors, musicians, galleries, and
creative businesses.
His litigation experience includes copyright infringement, TTAB proceedings, breach of
contract, authenticity, art-related claims, and financial services matters. He drafts,
reviews, and negotiates licenses, representation agreements, consignment agreements,
NDAs, sales agreements, financing agreements, commercial leases, and other
commercial contracts.
Before practicing law, he worked as a professional photographer and imaging
technology consultant for art-industry clients.
Mr. Portillo Togno holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information Technology
from Fordham University School of Law and a law degree from Universidad
Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He is admitted in New York, the Southern and Eastern
Districts of New York, and Mexico, and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
