AREAS OF PRACTICE Alternative Investment Practice Group | Regulatory Practice Group | Corporate Governance Practice Group | Litigation | Tax Practice Group | Intellectual Property Practice Group DL’s Litigation Practice Group has significant experience and a record of success in resolving a variety of business and commercial disputes, particularly in complex investment transaction litigation. Our attorneys practice in federal and state trial and appellate courts and have extensive experience in handling alternative dispute resolution. In many of the industries in which our clients do business, specialized arbitration processes provide the principal method of resolving disputes. For example, in the commodities industry, disputes between FCMs and customers are resolved through binding arbitration administered by the National Futures Association. DL’s lawyers have extensive experience which draws not only on their dispute resolution skills, but on their substantive knowledge of the industry and the law which pertains to it. We have experience representing brokerage firms and their management and employees in a wide range of disputes arising from securities, commodities, futures and foreign exchange trading. We routinely defend our clients against claims asserted by institutional and retail customers, such as those alleging fraud, unauthorized exercise of discretion, churning, unsuitability, failure to supervise, improper margin calls, unfair securities liquidations and failure to hedge a concentrated position. We have represented our clients in these disputes in state and federal courts around the country, as well as arbitration sponsored by self-regulatory organizations and exchanges, including the National Association of Securities Dealers, the New York Stock Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the National Futures Association and various commodities exchanges. We have appeared in investment-related arbitrations administered by the American Arbitration Association and JAMS. |
